#1
not bad! good variety of shapes, shadows and highlights in here, but just seems to be missing something, perhaps an interesting subject sitting on the bench woulda been nice
#2
not enough contrast, could use more bokeh
proximity of the stem to the edge is somewhat unsettling
#3
love the bottom two thirds of this, very strong geometric elements, good contrast.
but whatever it is making it murky at the top (i think its smoke) is kinda ruining it, if the smoke source had been visible, might have been excusable
#4
missed focus

the third photo with the buildings easily has the best composition and the nice range of grey tones. i find it the most interesting photograph. although the other photographs are nicely done, they have very cliche themes. next time you approach those subject matters try and think about what you can do to take it to the next level.
good luck with the contest!

I really like the third photo. It's definitely the most eye catching and most unique of the four.

the 3rd is my favorite too, but I agree with Eugene's comment about the haziness in the upper part of the pic.
EDIT: actually, I take that back. My fave is the 1st pic, it's the most crisp looking to me, and I dunno...something about it screams "lonely", and I like that.
The haze in the 3rd pic was ruining it for me.

The first one won't win because of how the Tree is layered over the bridge in the background, and because the chair is "touching" the tree from that angle. IMO
2nd one has been done to many times and have not enough contrast.
3rd one will do well, I don't think the smoke is necessarily a bad thing, it's kind of a contrast of natures subtle, soft elements descending upon a very well shot man made cold, static structure.
The 4th one is out of focus.

had ALL of the buildings in the background had smoke in front of it, OR if the implied line at the bottom of the smoke had been level and not on an angle like that, I would agree.

I don't mind the smoke.
It makes the stuff at the bottom pop more

First pic is pretty good though
I'd probably take that one. I like how the bench is empty for some reason.

#1 - Too much is in focus.
#2: Not enough contrast, and would look nicer with a Macro lens, suggest using a tripod and long exposures.
#3 is the strongest photo.
Having said that, you should potoshop the smoke out, and perhaps crop it to a 4x6 to accent to main structural lines.
#4 Missed focus

I would say the first one but I think it should be a little more off centered with the bench more on the right hand side,
second one is nicely done but i think that would be better with color
the third one I agree that the haziness is kinda distracting but the bottom part of it is really nice
the forth again no focused
Edit:
I just realized my post sounded really critical... They are good pictures dont take it the wrong way
